The Climb, A Lifetime

Each week we choose one Christian artist/group for frequent and effective promotion on the blog, on Twitter and on Facebook. Along with the promotion, we make it am ample priority to reflect why we chose the artist that we did in a brief bio which follows.

Cities and Saints

Who isn’t aware how cool of a name Cities and Saints is? Well, if the name alone isn’t enough to reel you in, then I have no doubt that one push to that play button will do the trick.

Right off the bat you experience Cities and Saint’s confidence and energy. Coined as a melodic alternative rock band, their music is enveloped by the idea of confronting the problems that many of the nation’s youth face on a regular basis.

The band began in 2009 and has since taken off with a comparative sound to The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus,  Mayday Parade, and Anberlin. What a combination, right?! I…

Habari Gani, America!

There’s no unlearning whiteness, despite what ‘anti-racists’ say | Opinion | Comment and Analysis | Mail & Guardian.

Caption:‘JM Coetzee left the country because he knows, like Lucy in the novel Disgrace, that whites have to start from the beginning with nothing – like dogs.’ (Madelene Cronje, M&G)

This appeal that white people again admit guilt, ask forgiveness and we can simply move on on the basis of “common humanity” is consistent with the post-1994

reconciliation without justice exemplified by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s impulse of getting some perpetrators of racism to repent, reveal and ask forgiveness, and thus gain moral vindication for the white race. We saw former death squad leader Eugene de Kock going to jail and former police minister Adriaan Vlok washing the feet of Reverend Frank Chikane in a macabre performance of remorse that leaves the anti-black status quo intact.

An Inland Voyage

“Is Bach affecting your sex life?”

Well, what a question to ask.

It was this inquiry that I encountered while perusing the Omaha World-Herald‘s site this week. Intrigued, I had to read more.

It turned out that it was a column about sex and music written by Brier Jirka, a sex therapist with the Methodist Physicians Clinic Women’s Center.

She writes:

You know it as soon as you hear it.

THE song that brings back memories of a special moment between you and your partner. That moment when fireworks exploded and you knew love was in the air.

The fact that music has such a prominent place in our relationships should not be surprising. We all listen to music on a daily basis, and a person’s taste can vary from classical or rock to country, pop or R&B.

For some, that special song is anything by the band…

There was a time when cruise lines kept the name of a new ship’s godmother secret until close to launch day. In fact, sometimes the godmother’s identity wasn’t made public until the naming ceremony.

Times have changed.

Such an example is Avalon Waterways. The river cruiser announced that Patricia Shultz, author of 1,000

Places To See Before You Die, will be godmother of the Avalon Expression when it launches May 6 in Cochem, Germany.

“Ms Schultz has inspired thousands of people driven by wanderlust to travel the world,” said Patrick Clark, Avalon’s managing director. “She is the perfect godmother for the Expression.”

The latest “suite ship” is one of two being launched this year by Avalon.

After the christening ceremony, the 443-foot, 166-passenger Expression will welcome travellers with cruises called The Legendary Danube, The Blue Danube Discovery and Magnificent Europe. Both the 2013 vessels Avalon are…

The Hypersonic55's Realm of Reviews and Other Stuff

As much I love hearing information on Marvel’s other films, I still want to give time for Captain America 2 especially when The Falcon is concerned. I have been following most of Anthony Mackie’s interviews online and this latest one on superherohype is pretty interesting:

2012-07-16-anthony_mackie_falcon

“We don’t know a lot about Anthony Mackie’s role as The Falcon in the upcoming Marvel Studios sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but now we’ve got a few details from the actor himself. In an interview with AICN, Mackie spoke more so than he has previously about the part.

“I will have wings. I will be able to fly. I will be a superhero and fight people, namely The Winter Soldier.”

Mackie has been really studying for the part, too.

“It was funny; a lot of the research I found was online. My older brother was a huge comic book buff. So when…

Day 36 of the 40 day challenge.

Michael Akang's blog

One of my favorite TV shows.

So, as you should remember, I’m not big on movies. But, I’m slightly more interested in TV shows. I don’t know why, I like to think its because they take time to develop characters and storylines.

I’ve watched quite a few- House, Grey’s Anatomy, Scrubs (notice a trend thus far?), Chuck, Criminal minds, Merlin, The Legend Of the Seeker and, most recently, Suits.

But, the one that came to mind when I saw this topic was Heroes.

Heroes is a truly exciting TV show. For the first time I spent hours in front of a TV screen without losing interest. For this reason I have to say Heroes is my favorite TV show (so far).

Yet Another Gordon Ramsay Show

Meaningless Words from a Princess

I don’t think I could even count the number of shows that Gordon Ramsay has been in charge of both in the US and the UK.

Not like I’m complaining or anything but Gordon Ramsay has yet another new show coming out. New for the US, half a year old for the UK.

What is his gimmick this time?

“Gordon Ramsay Behind Bars”

He is teaching prisoners how to cook so they can make a new life for themselves. Fun concept and interested to see how things turn out in the process.

Oh Gordon Ramsay~ what are you possibly going to get yourself into next…

Beyconcé Graces GQ Mag

The East Coast Roast

Beyoncé may have celebrated the first birthday of adorable daughter, Blue, but that doesn’t mean she’s not still Bootylicious. (photos by Terry Richardson).

The 31-year-old told GQ Magazine: ‘I worked so hard during my childhood to meet this goal: by the time I was 30 years old, I could do what I want. I’ve reached that. I feel very fortunate to be in that position. But I’ve sacrificed a lot of things, and I’ve worked harder than probably anyone I know in the music industry. So I just have to remind myself that I deserve it.’

Bey also revealed on her website that Destiny’s Child will be releasing new music later this month! DC also posted to their official Facebook page that this indeed is happening for the first time in 8 years!

TOP 10 TV Series for Men – 4. part

Real Men`s Place

7. We are very pleased, when we came across TV show, that has plot usually used in movies and we are great admirers of post-apocalyptic scenery. The Walking Dead strated in 2010 and first season celebrated the world-wide success and Show was nominated for 6 Saturn Awards (Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films). Atmosphere of zombie illness ( word “zombie” was never used in show ) is dark and desperate, but reason for our ranking is that hunting zombies, argues among livings … this is constantly repeating, how long you can repeat long-known concept. Yes you can take it in to the level of demi-god heroine like in Resident Evil, but it seems that this is not working well. Production is good, actors are great… but there is no invention, nothing new, no added value, no answers, just zombie killing spree. We wish The Walking Dead creators more bravery…
