- Danny Strong has penned the script for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1
- Lionsgate has the option to bring Danny back to write Part 2
- They have now exercised that option and Danny will now begin writing the final movie
There were quite a few raised eyebrows, when it was announced that relative newcomer Danny Strong had been signed up to write the screenplay for the movie The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. That is no disrespect to Danny’s ability as a writer, it was just expected that they would go for a bigger name.

Lionsgate also made sure that they included the option to bring Danny back on board to pen the final movie, if Part 1 was up to scratch. Well it has been confirmed that Lionsgate are happy with the work that Strong has done with the script, as the have exercised the option to bring Danny Strong back to pen the screenplay for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
It is fair to say that Danny Strong had a difficult job on his hands, as Mockingjay is considered to be the weakest of the three novels and he had to come up with a relevant place to split that into two movies. Word is that Danny has chosen very wisely, which added weight to the decision to bring him back.
