Stanley Kubrick delivers a two part Vietnam war film about young men becoming Marines and servicing in the war. The first part of the film is about young men and their rigorous time in a boot camp led by their drill instructor Gunnery Sgt. Hartman(R. Lee Ermey), and the effects it has on one of the recruits. The second part of the film follows one of the recruits Joker(Matthew Modine) who is a journalist with Stars and Stripes and covers the war by following a team of Marines.
